Jackson police are investigating a Wednesday night shooting on Hatton Street.
Around 9 p.m., police were called about shots fired in the area of Gordon Street. Police responded and began searching the area. Officers found shell casings outside on the 200 block of Hatton St.
About 9:40 p.m., a 21-year-old Jackson man arrived at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital with gunshot wounds to both legs.
The man told officers that he was walking south on Lambuth Boulevard when a black SUV pulled up next to him, and shots were fired from inside the SUV striking him. The man then reportedly walked to the emergency room.
When investigators confronted the man with information that he had possibly been shot elsewhere, he admitted that he had been shot on Hatton Street.
The man still maintained that he didn’t know who shot him; therefore, police do not have a credible description of any suspects or a vehicle involved.
The man was treated and released from the hospital around 3 a.m.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Jackson Police Department’s Major Crimes Bureau at 731-425-8400 or Crime Stoppers at 731-424-8477 (TIPS).
