‘We are excited about the future of our campaign’ – Jerry Woods sets sights on runoff for Mayor’s office

Less than 24 hours after the final votes were counted in the race for Mayor of Jackson, Jerry Woods took a few minutes to pause and reflect on Tuesday’s results.

“We are certainly thankful and excited about the future of our campaign,” Wood said, “We have to reach out to more people to vote period, but we have to get more people to vote for us.”

Woods will face Scott Conger in the June 18 runoff, which became necessary because neither candidate did not receive 50 percent plus one vote.

Woods ended the evening with 3,069 votes compared to 3,802 for Conger.

“In a way, Tuesday was a little like a primary, and we have to do a better job,” Wood said, “We want the political process to see this is about serving people, but it’s a process that only works if it involves people.”
