Waffle House constructing new facility at entrance of Casey Jones Village

Waffle House is doing at 24 Casey Jones Lane, what it just completed at 2314 N. Highland Ave.

“Except for the steel roof structure, it’s all new,” said Brandon Jones, a superintendent with Waffle House. “We’re looking at a completion date of mid- to late April.”

Jones said the Waffle House sign will be moved because of the new configuration of the roads in the area.

Waffle House reopened January 25, at 2314 N. Highland Ave., after rebuilding the aging restaurant, that first opened in Jackson, Aug. 2, 1977.

The Casey Jones location opened Sept. 8, 1983, and a third location – 1724 S. Highland Ave., opened Sept. 9, 1992.

Jones said the South Highland location will undergo renovation, but not to the extent of the North Highland Avenue, and Casey Jones Lane restaurants.

For history buffs, Waffle House began business at Casey Jones Lane after purchasing the Omelette Shoppe.
