Voter registration ends Monday, October 5

The last day to register to vote before the November 3 General Election is Monday, October 5.

If you have moved to a different county since the last time you voted, you must register to vote in your new county. Your voter registration does not automatically transfer. Each county in Tennessee maintains its own voter roll. If you have moved within your county, October 5 is not the last day to update your registration – but you are highly encouraged to do it before you go to vote.

If you have access to the internet, the easiest way to register to vote or to update your address is to go to www.madisonelection.com and click on “Register to vote online or update your registration online.”

If you prefer to register or update your registration in person, the Madison County Election Commission will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday.

Online registration will continue until midnight on October 5. Registrations which are mailed in with an October 5 postmark will be processed. It is helpful, but not necessary to present your voter registration card when you vote.

A photo ID issued by the State of Tennessee or United States government is the only document required to vote in person.
