Vision 2020 Jackson Madison County School Restructure Alternatives
Elementary/Middle
Alternative 1
•Maintains current grade arrangements with K-5 elementary Schools and 6-8 middle Schools throughout the district
• Students in the north cluster (north of the river and Interstate 40) would attend Pope, Thelma Barker or East for elementary school and Northeast for middle school.
• Students in the central cluster (south of Interstate 40 and west of Royal Street down to South Highland) would attend Andrew Jackson, Arlington or Alexander for elementary school and North Parkway for middle school.
• Students in the east cluster (south of Interstate 40 and north of the river) would go to Isaac Lane or Rose Hill for elementary school and Jackson Careers and Technology for middle school.
• Students in the south cluster (south of the river and Interstate 40) would attend Denmark and South for elementary school, which would feed Bemis as the middle school.
• Maintains and centralizes middle school Academic Academy
• Adds elementary Academic Academy
• Montessori program moves to Tigrett facility, remains K-8
• Pre-K program moves to Lincoln
• Would close Nova Elementary School, Beech Bluff Elementary School, Malesus Elementary School, West Middle School, Whitehall Pre-kindergarten Center. Would repurpose Bemis, Tigrett, Rose Hill, Jackson Careers and Technology and Lincoln
Elementary/Middle
Alternative 2
• Maintains some K-5 Elementary Schools and 6-8 Middle Schools, while providing a K-8 option within each cluster
• Students in the north cluster would attend Thelma Barker or East as zoned elementary schools, or Pope as a K-8 school. For middle school they could attend Northeast.
• Students in the central cluster could attend Andrew Jackson, Arlington, Alexander as zoned elementary schools, or could attend a K-8 school located on the campuses of Isaac Lane and Jackson Careers and Technology. For middle school they could attend North Parkway.
• Students in the southeast cluster would attend Denmark or South as zoned schools or Rose Hill as a K-8. For middle school they could attend Bemis.
• Maintains and centralizes Middle School Academic Academy
• Adds Elementary Academic Academy

• Returns Liberty to a true Technology Magnet Program
• Houses Early College High, Madison Academic with Liberty
• Closes or repurposes Jackson Central-Merry

The school year is now in full-swing, and with it comes more work on Vision 2020. Below are dates for this fall’s public meetings. We will be looking at the alternative plans for our school system that will be voted on by the end of the year and implemented beginning in the 2016-2017 school year.
