Violent Crime and Gang Task Force Saturation Operation Nets 39 Arrests

JACKSON Tenn (May 12, 2016) – The Multi-Jurisdictional Violent Crime and Gang Task Force conducted operations throughout the 26th and 28th Judicial District’s beginning the morning of May 11th and continuing into the night hours.

The operation included saturation patrols in high crime areas where violent crime and / or gang and narcotic activity have been taking place and included hundreds of traffic stops, over fifty probation / parole compliance checks, sex offender compliance checks, several search warrants, and numerous arrest warrant service. There were numerous “citizen contacts”, “knock and talks”, and “warrant checks” conducted also.

During the operation there were thirty nine (39) individuals arrested for various state violations ranging from firearm and narcotics offenses to traffic offenses. There were several misdemeanor citations issued in lieu of physical arrest.

There was one (1) firearm, and various amounts of marijuana, crack cocaine, powder cocaine, methamphetamine, ecstasy and drug paraphernalia seized during the operations at various locations

throughout the six (6) county area that make up the 26th and 28th State Judicial Districts.

James Cobb aka “Pee Wee” was indicted for 4 counts of theft of property, 3 counts of sale and delivery of cocaine, possession of marijuana and cocaine with intent to delivery in a school zone, 4 counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony and 4 counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Terrance Whiteside aka “Trouble” was indicted for sale and delivery of cocaine in a school zone, and 2 counts of sale and delivery of cocaine.

Courtney McCorkle aka “Cork” was indicted for 2 counts of sale and delivery of cocaine in a school zone.

Kristopher Temple aka “Fat Cat” was indicted for sale and delivery of cocaine in a school zone.

Officers and Agents participating in the operations were from the Jackson Police Department; Madison County Sheriff’s Office; Madison County Community Corrections; Jackson-Madison County Metro-Narcotics; Haywood County Sheriff’s Office; Brownsville Police Department; Humboldt Police Department; Lexington Police Department; Tennessee Department of Corrections OIC; Tennessee Department of Corrections; Tennessee Bureau of Investigation; Tennessee Highway Patrol; 26th Judicial District Attorney’s Office; 28th Judicial Drug Task Force; and the United States Marshals Service.
