USJ’s Trey Smith looking for repeat in Super Bowl with Kansas City; Chiefs playing for 4th title overall

Trey Smith is back for seconds.

One year after helping lead the Kansas City Chiefs to a 38-35 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII Championship, Trey Smith, an alum of the University School of Jackson, will be participating in Super Bowl LVIII.

When the Chiefs face the San Francisco 49ers, Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Kansas City will be looking for a second consecutive title.

Smith, a 2017 graduate of University School of Jackson, was a 5-star recruit, ranked #1 by ESPN. During his football career at USJ, Trey received the Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Lineman of the Year in 2015 and 2016 for Division II-A.1

Smith is also a former University of Tennessee at Knoxville football player where he played all four years. Smith received numerous awards from the University of Tennessee including 2017 Freshman All-American, 2018 Community Service Team, 2019 All-SEC First Team, 2020 Pat Summitt Ignite Greatness Award, 2021 Tennessee Torchbearer Award and many others.

Smith joins Ed “Too Tall” Jones (SB-XII, Cowboys), Trey Teague (SB-XXXIII, Broncos), and Jabari Greer (SB-XLIV, Saints) as NFL players from Jackson to have won Super Bowl Championships.

The Chiefs, winners of four World Titles, will be participating in their sixth Super Bowl in franchise history.
