Ashton Hulme, a senior at the University School of Jackson, will continue her education and basketball career at Bethel University in McKenzie.
Hulme, a Miss Basketball finalist for Miss Basketball in Division II-A – who averages 18.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 2.5 steals per game – will sign with the Lady Wildcats, May 7.
The District player of the year is shooting 60 percent from the field, 30 percent from the 3-point line and 80 percent from the free throw line.
“She is a very hardworker, very coachable and has really improved since her freshman year,” said Tony Shutes, USJ girls head basketball coach. “She is a three-year starter who dedicated herself to getting in better condition.”
USJ’s next outing is in the regional semifinals when the Lady Bruins face Harding at 6 p.m., Thursday at ECS.
