The University School of Jackson Lady Bruins fell 53-48 to Franklin Road Academy in the TSSAA Division II A state basketball semifinals at Allen Arena on the campus of Lipscomb University in Nashville, Thursday.
USJ, which completes its season at 27-5, trailed 31-21 at intermission, but rallied with a 10-0 run to begin the fourth quarter to take a two-point lead.
USJ’s Ashton Hulme was the game’s leading scorer with 25 points, hitting seven of her 12 field goal attempts – and a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line.
USJ shot 38.7 percent for the game, compared to 46.3 percent for FRA, thanks to Deayonna Cambridge (16 points), who connected on six of her eight field goal attempts, two for two from the 3-point line and two-for-two from the free throw line.
