The USJ Bruins Baseball Team has had a great season. They are district Champions, and will host the DII-A West Region tournament.
The Bruins have three Seniors on the squad, Wyatt Scott, Clenon Hardin, and Aubrey Sellers. All three of these Bruins have had outstanding careers and are hoping to end them on a high note! The team clinched the district title in a nail biting win over Tipton Rosemark 7-5 in extra innings with clutch hitting from Junior Logan Foster and solid closing pitching from fellow Junior Hudson McKenzie.
Senior Wyatt Scott states “This is the most successful and talented team I’ve been on in my five years and I think we have a chance to make it far.” His Fellow Senior Clenon Hardin states, “This team goes to show that hard work pays off.” Both of these players contribute to the team greatly with Scott having a .320 batting average and Hardin batting .350, both players are also amazing fielders. Another standout player is Sophomore Nash Kilburn with a .478 batting average, 44 hits, and one homerun! Kilburn has had an impressive season and has the potential to become an even better player.
Another standout player deserving recognition is Corben Howard, who consistently delivered strong pitching performances throughout the season contributing significantly to the team’s success. It has been a great season for the Bruins and they hope to continue their success in the playoffs.
