Ray Washington, interim superintendent of the Jackson-Madison County School System, has announced school has been cancelled for the remainder of the year, due to COVID-19.
“Per the Governor’s recommendation Jackson Madison County Schools, students will not return to school for the remainder of the school year,” Washington said, “The decision was based on the protection of the health and safety of our students, teachers, staff and community as a whole during the COVID 19 crisis.
“We will working with principals over the next few days to continue discussions on graduations, grade calculations for all grades and many other details related to student progression.
“We will provide updates as decisions are made.”
