UPDATE: Police Investigate Midtown Homicide, Victim Identified

Jackson police identify Midtown homicide victim.

Police say the victim is 33-year-old  Harvey Gandy. 

Around 6 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a shooting at Crest View Apartments, located at 118 Crescent Avenue, Apartment 210. Gandy, 33, who lived at this apartment, was found inside with an apparent gunshot wound.

Police investigators believe, based on the preliminary investigation, Mr Gandy was shot earlier that day, but investigators are not releasing an exact time. 

According to authorities, because, there was no evidence of a break-in at the apartment, Gandy may have known the person who shot him. 

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying who may have come to Gandy’s apartment on Monday.

JACKSON Tenn —  Around 6:00 PM Monday evening police were called to 118 Crescent Street, Crestview Apartments. On the scene officers discovered a victim of an apparent homicide.

A 33-year-old, Black male, was found in apartment 210 of Crestview Apartments.

Chief Julian Wiser said it is too early to release much information regarding the investigation. It is not established whether the victim lived at the address or was a visitor, how long the victim had been dead, or the cause of death.
