Jackson, Tennessee – The University of Memphis Lambuth is hosting “Tattoos Today: A Body Art Expo,” a showcase and competition celebrating tattoos as artistic expression.
According to a press release from Lizzie LaFont – art director, B3 Creative Agency – this free event is open to the public and will take place on Monday, April 8, 2024 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Student Union Ballroom on the University of Memphis Lambuth campus.
Local tattoo artists are invited to enter their most compelling body art in a multi-category competition for a chance to win up to $1,000 in prize money.
Artists’ models will not only be professionally photographed, but each model will walk the runway and flow through the crowd of tattoo enthusiasts as each artist and artwork is introduced.
Competition categories include
● Best Lettering
● Best Black and Gray
● Best Color
● Audience Favorite
● Best in Show
The runway show begins at 2 p.m., and judging will be based on cleanliness, composition, creativity, technical difficulty, and placement.
“We are so looking forward to showcasing the amazing work of our local tattoo artists,” said Lendon Noe event organizer.
The free Expo is open to the public and will also feature a live DJ, free refreshments, and aerial silk performances from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m., and 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. provided by Arrow Athletics.

Tattoos Today: A Body Art Expo is sponsored by the Art Museum of the University of Memphis. The University insists upon a degree of decorum and modesty. No complete disrobing will be allowed.
The day prior to the event (April 7, 2024), all contestants – both artists and models – must attend a show run-through. All contestants must agree to be present at the run-through in order to compete the following day.
PLEASE NOTE: Must be 18+ to compete. No live tattooing will take place at the expo.
