It’s becoming something of a tradition for the University of Memphis to make camp at its Lambuth campus to spend a few days practicing football.

The Tigers arrived in Jackson, Wednesday, and will make two more public appearances Friday and Saturday, before returning to Shelby County.

“We’re excited to be here at Lambuth, to be able to come to Jackson and showcase our university,” said Mike Norvell, University of Memphis head football coach. “It’s a great getaway and this is a phenomenal campus, a great opportunity for our guys to be together to continue to grow and build relationships.”

The Tigers will practice from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Friday, and will scrimmage at 10 a.m., Saturday, at L.L. Fonville Field.

Both events are free to the public.

“We’re excited about Saturday, to be able to have the opportunity to have all our fans here from West Tennessee to come out and enjoy seeing the Tigers play,” Norvell said. “It’s going to be a fun day. We’re very grateful for the opportunity to come and spend it with our team. I’m excited about the progress we’ve shown and looking forward to a great next couple of days.”
