BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Union University’s Jaelencia Williams was named the Gulf South Conference West Division Player of the Week for the week ending December 14, 2020.
This is the first installment of the award this season. Williams earned GSC Player of the Week honors twice last season.
According to a press release from Steven Aldridge – Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Communication – Williams, a senior center from Indianapolis, Indiana, helped Union to a 2-0 week to start the COVID shortened 2020-21 season. She helped the defending GSC Champion Union Lady Bulldogs to a pair of wins over Christian Brothers by averaging 14.5 points and nine rebounds per game.
She shot almost 60% from the field in the two games and averaged 2.5 blocks per game.
Williams as also a preseason All-GSC West selection earlier this month.
