BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference announced its 2023 Men’s Golf Postseason Awards, and Union University’s JJ Zimmer was named first-team all-conference. Zimmer has now been named first-team All-GSC in both seasons as a Bulldog.
Zimmer, a 5-foot-11 sophomore from Jackson, Tennessee, is currently ranked No. 15 in the NCAA Division II player rankings and is fourth in the Gulf South Conference. He is coming off a T4 finish in the GSC Championships and is expected to play in the NCAA D2 Super Region Championships in May. He earned GSC Player of the Week once this season.
This season, Zimmer has a scoring average of 71.19 in 26 rounds over nine tournaments. He finished in the top-5 in eight of the nine tournaments including medalist honors in the Tunica Cup and the Hillcat Classic. Zimmer led Union to its highest NCAA D2 national rankings at No. 42 earlier this spring and the team currently sits at No. 53.
