JACKSON, Tenn. – Union University and Director of Athletics Tommy Sadler has named Anna Hardin (pronounced AH nah) the interim head coach of the women’s soccer program for the 2021 season.
According to a press release from Steven Aldridge, Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Communication at Union University, Hardin steps into the position just days before the team is set to arrive on campus for preseason practice.
Hardin spent the past two seasons as the assistant coach for the program alongside head coach Scott Sinclair, who recently accepted a division one assistant coaching position.
“I am extremely grateful and excited to be serving as the interim head coach for the 2021 season,” Hardin said. “I would like to thank Tommy Sadler and the athletic department for their support of myself and the team as we continue to work towards achieving our goals in the coming fall and beyond. I am eager to get started with preseason and leading this incredible group of women.”
Hardin came to Union in June 2019, having previously served two seasons as the assistant women’s soccer coach and three seasons as the assistant men’s and women’s tennis coach at Oxford College of Emory University.
Hardin is a 2015 graduate of Valdosta State University where she earned a BFA degree in art education. She was a goalkeeper for the Blazers’ inaugural season in 2011 and second season in 2012.
She is a 2011 graduate of South Forsyth High School. She started three years as varsity keeper, was named all-county twice, Best Defender twice, and earned the Iron Eagle Award. She led her team as captain to the quarterfinals of the state championships.
She also played club soccer for AFC Lightning Elite 93 in Fayetteville, Ga. for three years. She led her team to multiple Atlanta Cup Championships, Nike Norcross Cup Championships, and a Georgia State Cup finalist.
Hardin is from Alpharetta, Georgia, and is the daughter of Robert and Pernilla Hardin.
