Union places four student-athletes on the CSC Academic All-District Basketball Teams
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Union University placed four student-athletes on the CSC Academic All-District Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams. Dusan Djordjevic, Shanique Lucas, Shylee Morrison, and Anna McCredy all were honored with this award.
This award was made up of members from institutions affiliated with NAIA, NCAA DI, NCAA DII, and NCAA DIII. Members that have earned this award show great achievement in the classroom with a GPA of 3.5 or higher and are significant contributors to the team.
Union basketball’s Layne Sarver earns GSC Freshmen of the Week
BIRMINGHAM, Ala – Union University’s Layne Sarver was awarded the Gulf South Conference Men’s Basketball Freshmen of the Week for the week ending Feb, 19. This is the team’s seventh conference weekly award of the year.
Sarver, a freshmen guard from New Madison, Ohio, helped Union to a 1-1 record this week including a win over No. 19 West Alabama.
He tied his career high 24 minutes played against Alabama Huntsville earlier in the week where he had eight points shooting 3-5 from the field and 2-4 from the three-point line. In the win over West Alabama,
Sarver had five points going 2-6 from the field and 1-3 from the three-point line. He added one rebound and one assist to his stat line.
Up next for Union is a road matchup against Lee University. This game will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 23.
Union softball’s Macey Neal earns TSWA Player of the Week
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Union University softball’s Macey Neal was awarded the Tennessee Sports Writers Association softball player of the week for the week ending Feb 19. This is her first TSWA player of the week award, and her second weekly award earning GSC player of the week last week.
Neal, a junior shortstop out of Dyer, Tennessee, helped the Lady Bulldogs to a 4-1 record this week with a doubleheader win over Ouachita State earlier in the week and a series win on the road against shorter. On the week, she went 12-19 hitting .632 with two doubles, one triple, and one homer earning eight RBI.
Up next for Union is a home series against the Argo’s of West Florida. The first game of the series will be held at 4 p.m., Friday, Feb. 24.
