From Greg Hammond – Chief of Public Information – Jackson-Madison County School System
Tyreece Miller, a U.S. Marshal and 1992 North Side High School graduate, and the U.S. Marshals Service donated equipment to the Jackson-Madison County School System following the GSA excess property process.
Miller, a former student-athlete at North Side, credits his early success to the teachers and coaches who guided him during his time there.
“The U.S. Marshals Service recently updated our gym with new equipment in the Jackson office, which created an opportunity to donate the existing equipment,” Miller said, “After following the GSA excess equipment process, we were very pleased to donate it to the Jackson-Madison County School System.
“It is my hope that student-athletes will make good use of the equipment and benefit from putting in sweat and hard work.
“As a high school student athlete, I personally know the character that was instilled in me through academics and athletics.
“I encourage all educators to keep believing in your students and show that you care.
“I can promise you – they will remember.
“I also want to thank Dr. Marlon King and his staff for working with us through the process. Our community is better off when we’re working together.”
The items will be distributed to the athletic programs with the greatest need.
A portion will be used to support a staff fitness center at Oman Arena.
We are grateful!
