
JACKSON Tenn – An investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, with the Covington Police Department and the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office, resulted in a Covington man charged with the murder of his girlfriend.
District Attorney General Mike Dunavant, requested TBI investigate a homicide that occurred early Wednesday morning at 100 Canterbury Circle in Covington.
During the course of the investigation, Agents learned that Crystal Herbert-Weathers, 29, had been involved in an altercation with her boyfriend early that morning. Crystal had been shot multiple times during the altercation. Authorities developed information leading them to Windal Sherel Edwards as the individual responsible for her death. Edwards had fled the scene but was later apprehended at a relative’s home in Brighton, Tennessee.
Acccording to T.B.I., late Wednesday afternoon 33-year-old Windal Edwards, 33, was arrested and charged with one count of First Degree Murder and one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm. He was booked into the Tipton County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
