Thursday Night Shooting Names Released

Jackson police are identifying both the police officer and the suspect who were involved in a fatal shooting late Thursday afternoon.

According to a press release, Officer Raymond Dewayne Bond shot Cinque D’Jahspora, 20, of Jackson, after D’Jahspora attacked and stabbed him. Officer Bond was hired by the Department in December 2010.

Police Chief Julian Wiser said “Officer Bond was placed on routine, paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of our investigation,”

Officer Raymond Dewayne BondWiser said, Officer Bond was one of several police officers who were dispatched to an area near the entrance to Timberlake Estates on North Parkway around 4:36 p.m. to investigate a man causing a disturbance.

As Officer Bond arrived in the area, he observed a man, now identified as D’Jahspora, on the side of the road, who matched the description provided by the caller reporting the disturbance. Bond got out of his patrol car to investigate and was immediately attacked and stabbed by D’Jahspora. He then shot D’Jahspora. according to the investigative report.

Ambulance crews transported D’Jahspora and Officer Bond to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. D’Jahspora was pronounced dead at the emergency room. Officer Bond was treated and released.

D’Jahspora’s body was transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Nashville for autopsy.
