The ‘Eater’ of the Free World visits KC Finn’s for Food Challenge, Dec. 26

It’s Man vs. Food at KC Finn’s, 1027 South Highland Ave., when Randy Santel, billed as a world class professional eater, participates in the ‘Big Burger Challenge,’ Dec. 26.

The public is invited, and prepping for the challenge begins at 3:30 p.m., and 15 minutes later, Santel – who makes his home in St. Louis – will get very busy.

“Anyone who has (eaten) here in the last two-and-a-half years knows we have the ‘Gigantic Burger Challenge,’ said Charlie Finn, who co-owns the restaurant with wife Kathy, “It will consist of eating a five-pound burger and a pound of fries and he’s got to do it in 30 minutes.”

It’s a competition several have tried at KC Finn’s, but no one has won – yet.

Santel, who videos the competition for youtube.com, will pay $30 to try and complete the task, and if successful, he’ll receive a refund.

But there’s other incentives.

“He has the most wins in challenges,” Charlie said, “He’s going all over the country competing, and people use his website (foodchallenges.com) to set up challenges in the U.S. and other countries.”

Here’s the task Charlie and Kathy will place in front of Randy –

Four pounds of beef burger meat stacked on a five-inch bun

– 16 slices of American cheese

– Tomato, lettuce, onion, and pickle are required (or substitute bacon)

– Mayo, ketchup, and mustard are optional

– The burger challenge comes as is with no other substitutions

– He must also finish one-pound of fries and a 20-ounce drink
