JACKSON Tenn. — Jackson’s newest entertainment venue, The Amp, has been awarded the Four Star Award for Excellence in new facility design by the Tennessee Recreation & Parks Association at their recent annual conference.
Mayor Jerry Gist Made the announcement on Friday, the Four Star Awards are presented annually to recognize excellence in Programming, Special Events, Marketing, and New Facility Design.
Gist said , the Amp was selected for the New Facility award based on its design, land usage, positive impact on the community, and community partnerships involved.
Planning and design of The Amp involved the city of Jackson, Jackson Recreation & Parks, Chamber of Commerce, Jackson Downtown Development Corp., and the Jackson Convention & Visitors Bureau. Their goal in creating The Amp was to provide a free entertainment venue in downtown Jackson, and to rejuvenate/restore what was formerly an abandoned vacant lot behind the Farmers’ Market.
