Standing Order
In the interest of the efficient and orderly administration of justice, the Chief Justice, exercising his statutory and inherent powers pursuant ot Title 17, Chapter 2, Part I of the provisions of Tennessee Code Annotated, and Rule 11 of the Rules of the Supreme Court, hereby designates and assigns the Honorable Donald Allen, Honorable Kyle Atkins, Honorable Joseph Howell, and Honorable Roy Morgan to preside over civil and criminal dockets or cases in Madison County General Sessions Court, Division I, as needed through August 31, 2026.
The Chief Justice so designates these named judges to address the Division I judge’s reported abdication of his duty to hold regular, prompt dockets and adjudicate cases in a timely manner, thereby causing concern about the constitutional and statutory rights of Division I litigants and strains on local resources.
The clerk of the Circuit Court shall make all necessary accommodations required by the judges named herein to efficiently adjudicate pending matters, including making a courtroom available for hearings.
