A ban on Tennessee’s most popular hemp products will be delayed at least six months, through the end of June 2026, a state board decided Thursday.
That’s to let current hemp licenses expire before a new regulatory body steps in to oversee Tennessee’s industry, officials said.
Tennessee hemp businesses with licenses issued before Dec. 31, 2025, can operate under 2023 laws, avoiding a new THCA sales ban and regulations until their licenses expire. The agreement between the Tennessee Healthy Alternatives Association and the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission delays a law effective Jan. 1, 2026, which introduces a three-tier system for hemp products and bans THCA sales. Licenses issued on or after July 1, 2025, will expire June 30, 2026.
