TCAT students earn gold status at SkillsUSA Nationals

JACKSON, TN – Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) at Jackson is excited to announce two students have achieved the highest honor at the 2024 SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference by receiving the gold status in their respective competitions.

Brian Matthews of Brownsville in Residential and Commercial Appliance Technology, and James Banks of Brownsville in Plumbing demonstrated exceptional skill, determination, and proficiency in their fields, earning top honors in their competition. Michael Cains of Lexington competed in Electrical Construction Wiring and placed 13th in the nation and received a Certificate of Excellence for exceeding industry standards in the competition.

“We are so proud of the hard work of these students that they have put in for these competitions,” said Britney Ward, Vice President of Student Services at TCAT Jackson. “We are glad they had the opportunity to shine on the national level and were able to show off all of their many talents.

“We are proud to have these students represent TCAT Jackson.”

TCAT at Jackson also had 21 students compete at the state competition winning gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.
