JACKSON, Tenn.- Tennessee Bureau of Investigation spokespeople have confirmed that on December 16th, 28th District Attorney General Garry Brown requested the TBI investigate reports that officers with the Gibson Police Department were improperly seizing vehicles and releasing them back to the owners in exchange for monetary compensation to the Gibson Police Department drug fund.
Monday night Gibson’s board of alderman voted 4-1 to relieve Gibson Police Chief Taylor Atkins if his duties.
City officials have had no comment.
The TBI investigation remains active and ongoing at this time.
