TBI Agent’s Accused Shooter In Court

JACKSON, Tenn. (March 30, 2017) — On Thursday the man accused of killing Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Special Agent De’Greaun Frazier made a court appearance in Jackson City Court.

24-year-old Brenden Burns waived his right to a preliminary hearing

According to the investigation, on Aug. 9th 2016, TBI Special Agent De’Greaun Frazier, 35, was shot on Brianfield Cove in Jackson during a “controlled drug buy.” Court documents say, Frazier and a confidential informant were in the car, and Burns was supposed to sell ounce of cocaine to the informant. Burns left the car to get the cocaine, but instead came back with a gun. Frazier attempted to get out of the vehicle when he was shot in the back. According to court documents the shooting was recorded on officers’ dashboard cameras.

Agent Frazier was later pronounced dead at Jackson General Hospital.

De’Greaun Frazier is the first TBI agent killed in the line of duty.

The Madison County grand jury is scheduled to meet again April 3.

Burns is accused of shooting Agent Frazier during an undercover drug buy in August 2016. Burns is charged with murder in the perpetration of attempted aggravated robbery.  Brenden Burns could face the death penalty if convicted.
