Super Bowl LVII Preview

Super Bowl LVII is set as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Glendale, Arizona.

The AFC Champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, defeated the reigning AFC Champion Cincinnati Bengals, 23-20.

Patrick Mahomes had yet to beat Joe Burrow in his career; he had lost three straight matchups to the LSU product before finally attaining victory Sunday night. Mahomes battled through a badly sprained ankle as he led his squad down the field to eventually set up veteran kicker Harrison Butker with a game-winning 45-yard field goal with three seconds remaining. The nail in the coffin for the Bengals’ season came when second year defensive-end Joseph Ossai was flagged for unnecessary roughness for a late hit on Mahomes ultimately dooming Cincinnati.

Andy Reid now faces his old team when the Eagles meet the Chiefs to battle it out for the Lombardi trophy.

The NFC-winning Eagles defeated the San Francisco 49ers in a landslide victory, 31-7. While the score looks impressive, the 49ers’ once again were hit with the injury bug as they lost sensational rookie “Mr. Irrelevant” Brock Purdy to a shoulder injury forcing Christian McCaffrey to become emergency quarterback for a time.

Ultimately, Purdy would find the strength to continue, but the Niners were left in the dust by the time they got the injury situation resolved.

The Eagles are favored to take home the Lombardi at (-130) while the Chiefs come in at (+110) being the underdogs in this matchup. The point spread also favors the Eagles at (-2) over Kansas City.
