Ford names lead contractor for Blue Oval City project in Haywood County
Ford Blue Oval City was originally announced back in September as a new, sprawling complex set to be built in Stanton, Tennessee.
There, the automaker will produce electric vehicles, including a next-generation electric Ford F-Series model, which will ride on its own dedicated platform, as well as batteries, while also housing suppliers and creating around 6,000 much-needed new jobs.
After receiving approval for an incentive package from the state, FoMoCo is searching for suppliers, while Ford Blue Oval City is already on the map – quite literally. Now, the automaker has announced that Detroit-based Walbridge, will be the lead contractor for its new complex, according to Automotive News reporter Michael Martinez.
Ford estimates that it will need around 30,000 temporary construction workers for its 4,100-acre site outside Memphis.
Leaders Education Foundation awarding West Tennessee high school seniors $20,000 in scholarships
JACKSON, Tennessee – Leaders Education Foundation, a non-profit 501c(3) started by Leaders Credit Union, is pleased to award $20,000 to graduating high school seniors.
According to Janet Wylie – Marketing Specialist, Leaders Credit Union – the Leaders Education Foundation Scholarship Program will award scholarships of various amounts and requirements to high school seniors attending an accredited college or university.
“We are proud to support area students by promoting lifelong,” Leigh Anne Bentley, President of Leaders Education Foundation, said. “We believe in making lives better through education and opportunities to help students become the best that they can possibly be.”
Scholarship applicants must be graduating high school seniors in West Tenn. and the high school senior, a parent and/or a grandparent must be a member of Leaders Education Foundation or a member in good standing of Leaders Credit Union. Applicants must be accepted or enrolled into an accredited four-year bachelor’s degree program at a college or university in the United States. The scholarship offerings will be awarded based on financial need, community service, academic achievement. All scholarships awarded are given on a one-time basis.

Business Spotlight – STAR Center names Rachel Ryan Manager of Donor & Community Relations
The STAR Center has hired Rachel Ryan as Manager of Donor and Community Relations.
According to a press release from Cassidy Sheppard – Marketing and Events Manager – Rachel brings 15 years of experience in healthcare and six years of experience in fundraising, donor, and event management for nonprofits around West Tennessee.
She holds a B.A. from Union University and an M.S. from the University of Tennessee at Martin.
In her role prior to joining The STAR Center, Ryan was a one-person program working with children and families experiencing the hospital environment.
Additionally, she volunteered for several local nonprofits, raising funds, and increasing the awareness of each mission.
“We are excited to see how Rachel can take the skills that she has developed and grown in serving children in the hospital and now apply those to further the development of donors for The STAR Center,” said Dave Bratcher, President of The STAR Center. “In addition, Rachel will be tasked with building new communities all across our state to grow the donor base and the awareness from Memphis to Mountain City. Ultimately connect those with disabilities with life-changing supports.”

Chick-fil-A opening new restaurant in front of Old Hickory Mall, February 10
The wait is almost over for the opening of a new Chick-fil-A at 16 Tinker Hill Road in front of the Old Hickory Mall – southwest corner of North Highland Avenue and Tinker Hill Road.
The new restaurant opens at 6 a.m., Thursday, February 10.
The restaurant consists of 4,759 square feet located on a 1.42 acre lot, with 52 parking spaces.
Chick-fil-A is also located at 3 Stonebridge Boulevard and Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Jackson Beer Board approves permits for 2 special occasions, 1 business during monthly meeting
The Jackson Beer Board approved requests for two special occasions and one business during its monthly meeting at City Hall, Tuesday.
Ann Keyl was approved for a permit for a Special Occasion known as Mardi Gras Auction & Casino Gala for selling, storing, and serving at the Civic Center, February 5.
Daryl Chansuthus was approved for a permit for a Special Occasion known as WRAP – Denim & Pearls Event for selling, storing, and serving at the Civic Center, March 26.
Allison Michelle Greer was approved for a permit for a business known as A Little Bit of Everything, 354 Harts Bridge Road, Jackson, TN, for selling, storing, and serving on the premises where sold.
Arby’s opens new restaurant at 1984 South Highland Avenue
Arby’s opened its fourth and newest restaurant in Jackson at 1984 South Highland Avenue, at 10 a.m., today.
The 2,800 square foot restaurant will offer seating for 40 customers and will employ about 30 people.
Arby’s has restaurants at 208 Stonebrook Place, 601 Old Hickory Blvd., and 219 Parkstone Place near the Ballpark at Jackson.
