Convenience stores cited in underage alcohol operation

Three area convenience stores face charges following an underage alcohol operation conducted by Metro Narcotics, June 30, 2021.

The three stores are –

S&S Food Mart (Shell), 231 Airways Boulevard

Smoke Shop II, 799 Hollywood Drive

Citgo, 931 Hollywood Drive

A ‘Show Cause’ hearing has not been scheduled.

Store entered and attempts were made to purchase alcohol, but no sales were made –

Amoco, 253 Airways Boulevard

Tennessee Industrial Printing offering free copies of the U.S. Constitution

Tennessee Industrial Printing (TIPS), a digital and offset printing company located at 51 Miller Ave., in Jackson, is offering free printed copies of the United States Constitution in honor of Independence Day.

“At TIPS, we love our country and our community,” said Wayne Chambers, owner of Tennessee Industrial Printing. “We love giving back to West Tennessee and this is a fun way to celebrate our nation’s birthday and give something to the Jackson community as well!”

The printed United States Constitution is a stylized version that has been digitally printed on 11×17 paper. They are available to pick up for free at TIPS, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Tennessee Industrial Printing was founded in 1972 by three local entrepreneurs. With a focus on quality and customer service from the beginning, they worked hard to transform TIPS into a very strong printing company.

Today, TIPS has grown to employ 25 employees, printing items for local and regional businesses, as well as items for multiple Fortune 500 Companies located across the United States. LIFELINE Blood Services opening new location in Dyersburg

LIFELINE Blood Services, 1130 U.S. Highway 51 Bypass, Suite 19 & 20, Dyersburg, will hold its grand opening, at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 13.

“This is the second fixed-site location for LIFELINE, which is the sole provider of blood and blood products to 17 hospitals and 14 air ambulances in 20 counties – predominately in West Tennessee,” Caitlin Roach said, “We will have a joint ribbon cutting with the Dyer Chamber and a reception with light refreshments.”

Caitlin Roach is the marketing manager for LIFELINE Blood Services, which is also located at 183 Sterling Farm Drive in Jackson.

City Council approves $1.4 million plus for proposed homeless shelter for men

A proposed budget amendment to the Capital Outlay Fund for $1,450,000 for a homeless shelter for adult men was approved unanimously when the Jackson City Council held its monthly meeting at Jackson City Hall, Tuesday.

The fund will be reimbursed through CDBG and HOME grants.

The property, a multi-family home located at 236 Airways Blvd., consists of 7,820 square feet and has 16 bathrooms.

“The money allocated to the homeless shelter is for acquistion of the building, planning/engineering … contracted renovations/repairs to the building and site,” said Paul Taylor, Jackson City Councilman.

The facility was built in 1920 and has a lot size of 0.34 acres.

After the second reading of the budget amendment, the City will begin its due diligence process to acquire and rehabilitate a building to serve as the shelter. The City will also be releasing an RFP soon to competitively select the operator of the shelter. The City will be sharing updates on the project with the community as it progresses.

Jackson Beer Board approves 1 business, 1 special occasion permit during monthly meeting

The Jackson Beer Board approved two requests for beer permits during its monthly meeting at City Hall, Tuesday.

Gagan Deep Singh, J&S Food Mart, LLC, 340 Parkstone Place, was approved for a permit for selling, storing and serving off the premises where sold.

Hal Freeman, Jackson Good Evening Rotary, was approved for a special permit for selliing, storing and serving for an event – Relay for Life – at the AMP, July 23.
