A new apartment complex consisting of 132 units at Jackson Walk Phase III – 42 on Johnson Street – now leasing – and 90 on Talbot Street, which remains under construction – continues.
A three-story apartment complex at Jackson Walk Phase III – Johnson Street and North Wells Alley – opened in July.
The complex offers two buildings – one- and two bedroom apartments – consisting of 42 units on 1.14 acres.
Jackson Walk Phase III also incorporates Talbot Street, where three buildings consisting of 90 apartment units continue.
The three buildings consist of one-and-two bedroom apartments, and are located at the the site of the former West Jackson Baptist Church activities center and West Jackson Elementary School, on 2.12 acres.

Jackson Energy Authority’s Board of Directors approve 8 resolutions during monthly meeting
The Jackson Energy Authority’s Board of Directors approved eight resolutions during their monthly meeting at The Tennergy Center, Thursday.
“At today’s board meeting, the JEA directors approved eight resolutions which included equipment purchases, service audits and reviews, and rate considerations,” Monte Jones said. “One specific resolution involved leak detection for water services that will be done utilizing satellite technology for above and under ground leaks.
“Also, the board recognized the gas division for its recent SOAR award. SOAR is the System Operational Achievement Recognition program that honors utilities who have achieved excellence in their daily operation.
“JEA was the only APGA member utility to receive the Gold Award in 2025. APGA President Dave Schryver of Washington, D.C., was on hand at the meeting and spoke about JEA’s recognition.”

Construction continues on new North Highland Avenue coffeehouse
Construction continues on Scooter’s Coffee, 2625 North Highland Avenue.
When complete, the former home of Jackson Motor Company becomes a new drive-thru coffeehouse consisting of 668-square-feet on 0.48 acres.
Scooter’s Coffee opened its first Jackson location at 1732 South Highland Avenue, July 21.
Scooter’s, founded and headquartered in Bellevue, Nebraska, has 800 plus in 29 states, and is currently the second-largest drive-through coffee chain and the fifth-largest coffee chain in the United States.
The menu includes hot and cold drinks, including coffee, tea, and smoothies; and food items, such as pastries, burritos, and sandwiches. It also has breakfast and kids menus. Its signature drink is the Caramelicious, an espresso drink with caramel sauce and whipped cream.

Madison County 4-H Chicken Shack returns for 63rd year
Jackson, TN – For the 63rd year, the Madison County 4-H Chicken Shack is back in business – this year from September 9 through September 13, in Madison County at the Jackson Fairgrounds.
Although the West TN State Fair will be held in Chester County, the Chicken Shack will offer a mouthwatering menu featuring half chickens, tender ribs, and delicious pork chops. This event not only promises to please your taste buds but also provides an opportunity to support the 4-H programs that help local youth develop leadership, citizenship, and life skills.
The 4-H Chicken Shack is open to the public with no admission fee required. All proceeds will help support educational programs for local students in agriculture and family and consumer sciences.
