An opening date has not been announced, but when WoodSpring Suites begins welcoming visitors, the 13,120-square-foot facility will be the fifth hotel located near The Ballpark at Jackson.
Located at 19 Bink Drive – 2939 Ridgecrest Road Extended – on 2.46 acres, WoodSpring Suites will offer 142 rooms and 131 parking spaces.

Legacy Estates, new 36 home subdivision, under construction on Highway 70
Legacy Estates, an affordable housing community, is under construction on the corner of Highway 70 and Cartmell Street.
The community will feature 36 affordable homes that will offer 3-and-4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, garage, EV outlets, a recreational area and children’s playground.
The size of the homes will range from 1,200- to 1,500-square-feet.
Unemployment rates for West Tennessee counties
Highlights from the November 2023 Labor Force Estimates:
- The Seasonally Adjusted Unemployment Rate for Tennessee increased to 3.5% from last month’s 3.3%.
- During the same time period, the Seasonally Adjusted Unemployment Rate for the United States decreased to 3.7 from last month’s 3.9.
- The unemployment rate decreased in 89 counties, increased in 3 counties, and remained the same in 3 counties.

Construction continues on Georgia Pacific manufacturing facility near airport
Jackson, Tennessee – A $425 million investment Georgia-Pacific is making near McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport is beginning to take shape.
Dixie manufacturing, a 900,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility, which sits on 241 acres and is conveniently located near Interstate 40 and state Highway 223 will employ approximately 220 people.
The facility is expected to significantly increase the supply of disposable tableware products is scheduled to be operational in the summer of 2024.
A few features include a climate-controlled environment, a printer, and associated plate forming converting assets.
Once operational, the Jackson plant will produce the well-known brand of tableware products, including the Dixie and Dixie Ultra lines of plates and bowls.
Georgia-Pacific directly employs approximately 460 people and operates six facilities in the state of Tennessee.
The economic impact of the company contributes to 1,430 additional indirect jobs, $100 million in labor income, and the capital investment in the state has totaled more than $250 million since 2011.
