New homes for sale in Jackson in August stood at 73, compared to 54, for July 2020.
New construction homes sold January 1 through August 31, was 16, compared to , for July 2020.
The number of homes on the market, which includes all of Madison County through August 31, stood at 123.
Average days on the market – January 1 through August 31, was 43.
The average sales price for a home year to date is $184,380.
Owners of Central Distributors add Arkansas Distributing Company to portfolio
Jackson, TN – The McWherter family of Jackson, Tennessee is proud to announce the purchase of Arkansas Distributing Company, now Best Beverages of West Memphis.
According to a press release from Kayla Taylor – Younger Associates Director of Marketing Strategy -three generations of McWherters have operated beverage distributorships, including Central Distributors and Volunteer Distributing in Tennessee.
Central Distributors opened a new 80,000-square-foot distribution center at 1876 Lager Lane, near Airport Industrial Park, in April 2018.
“We are continuing to expand our footprint in the beverage industry to keep the distributorships
performing as vital economic and community assets,” stated Michael McWherter, President of the
McWherter family enterprises. The McWherter family looks forward to continuing its long history of being a deeply-rooted corporate citizen and community supporter in the territories it serves, which will now include areas in Eastern Arkansas alongside West Tennessee.
McWherter family members engaged in the management of the companies include Michael, son of
company founder and former Governor of Tennessee Ned Ray McWherter; Mary Jane McWherter,
Secretary / Treasurer and Director of the company; and their son, Walker McWherter, Vice President of the company and a Director.
“Walker McWherter will be a key management officer for the Arkansas territory; with Walker helping to

Ice Cream truck makes rounds in area neighborhoods
At age 40, Hassan Beasley is ready to begin a new chapter in his life.
The owner of H. Beasley Delights – an Ice Cream truck – Hassan doesn’t hold back when discussing his past, or his plans for the future.
“I had a troubled life … I lost my mother and sister while I was in prison,” Hassan said, “When I got out, I relocated to Jackson with my father’s side of the family, and I’ve worked hard to start my own business, trying to give back to the community and reconstruct my life.”
Hassan is originally from Chauncey, Georgia.
Hassan said he got the idea of taking the ice cream business on the road, because he liked the idea of being self-employed.
West Tennessee Healthcare announces organizational changes
Jackson, Tennessee – West Tennessee Healthcare is pleased to announce several organizational changes on the Executive Leadership Team.
Earlier this year, Vanessa Patrick was promoted and named Vice-President of Business Development for the system. Vanessa joined the organization in 1999. Her areas of responsibility include provider recruiting, the physician liaison program, corporate health and wellness, and strategic development including acquisitions. Mrs. Patrick attended the University of Tennessee at Martin where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree and her Master’s degree in Business Administration. Mrs. Patrick currently lives with her family in Medina, TN.
Scott Krodel was named Chief Information Officer for West Tennessee Healthcare earlier this year. Scott has over 30 years of experience, with 20 years being at the executive leadership level. He brings extensive experience and expertise in Information Technology and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Indiana State University and a Master’s Degree in Health Administration from the University of Southern Indiana. Scott and his family will be relocating to Jackson from Trafalgar, Indiana.
Dr. Vinay Pallekonda joined the team, effective September 14, as the Chief Medical Officer for Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. In this role, Dr. Pallekonda will work closely with the medical staff, officers and clinical department chairs to coordinate clinical staff administrative activities. He will also be responsible for oversight of hospital quality initiatives. Dr. Pallekonda has more than 20 years of clinical, operational and clinical healthcare experience, and is Board Certified in Anesthesiology, Internal Medicine and Critical Care Medicine. He and his family are relocating to Jackson, TN following his service as Chief Medical Officer for DMC Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
