Highlights from the Labor Force Estimates –

August 2023

  • The Seasonally Adjusted Unemployment Rate for Tennessee remained the same at 3.1% from July to August.
  • During the same time period, the Seasonally Adjusted Unemployment Rate for the United States increased to 3.8% from July’s 3.5%.
  • The unemployment rate decreased in 93 counties and remained the same in 2 counties.
  • Moore County had the lowest unemployment rate at 2.4 percent. Lauderdale County had the highest unemployment rate at 5.8 percent.

Dunkin’ Donuts remains in play after North Highland Ave. property sells for $900,000 plus

Plans for a new Dunkin’ Donuts at 2757 North Highland Avenue remain the same, but the property has a new owner.

BC North Partners – represented by Eden Smith, Coldwell Banker Barnes, sold the 2.2 acres of land to TN Donuts Realty LLC for $967,000

When constructed the 2,000-square-foot facility will be located next door to Grease Monkey.

The new location will be the third for Dunkin’ in Jackson.

Dunkin’ Donuts is located at 5 Stonebridge Place, and 1560 South Highland Avenue in a facility formerly occupied by Hardee’s.

Business Spotlight – Brian Ferrell new vice president & loan officer at Commercial Bank and Trust

JACKSON, TENNESSEE – Commercial Bank and Trust Company is pleased to announce that Brian Ferrell has joined the Jackson team as Vice President and Loan Officer.

According to a press release from Stephanie Traylor – Marketing and Research Strategist, Younger Associates – Brian will be responsible for both creating an exceptional banking experience for current and prospective clients and identifying and growing deposits and loans in the Jackson market.

A native of Jackson, Ferrell is a graduate of Jackson State Community College and Bethel University and holds an MBA from Union University.

He has 10 years of banking experience and has served as a credit analyst, branch manager, and loan officer.

“It is an exciting time for Jackson and West Tennessee, and I am pleased to be in a role where I can be a part of the growth that is happening,” Ferrell said, “I look forward to building relationships with existing Commercial Bank and Trust clients as well as future ones.”

Ferrell is deeply involved in the Jackson community. He serves on the boards of the Madison County Imagination Library and the Boys and Girls Club of Jackson. He is a member of both the Leadership Jackson Class of 2022 and the Leadership Jackson Alumni Association.

He and his wife, Ashley, have been married for six years and are expecting their first child in 2024.
