Stein Mart closing in West Towne Commons
Stein Mart, 175 Stonebrook Place in West Towne Commons, is closing.
The Jacksonville, Florida-based retailer announced Wednesday it had filed for Chapter 11.
Liquidation sales have started, but a closing date has not been announced.
Business hours at the Jackson location are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sundays.
With about 300 stores, Stein Mart is known for brand names in fashion for men and women, unique home décor and gifts.
Logan’s Roadhouse reopens on Carriage House Drive
Logan’s Roadhouse has reopened at 604 Carriage House Drive, with a new management team, general manager and front of house manager.
Business hours are 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays.
The restaurant closed – temporarily – in March.
Logan’s Roadhouse in Jackson remained open despite multiple store closings after the company filed for bankruptcy in 2016.
The Nashville, Tennessee based restaurant chain operated 250 restaurants nationwide.
2 businesses cited for illegal beer sales
Jackson Metro Narcotics issued two stores citations for selling beer illegally during an underage alcohol operation August 3.
The stores are Dollar General, 5341 Nika Drive, and Gold Line, 1819 U.S. Highway 45 Bypass.
A 17-year-old juvenile was the only clerk in Gold Line at the time of the sale.
Penalties are pending on both cases.

Amazon looking at vacant mall space for distribution centers
First, it was apartment units, and now it’s Amazon.
With Amazon in talks with Simon Property Group, the largest mall owner in the United States, to use vacant space once occupied by Sears for distribution hubs – or fullfillment centers – could the Old Hickory Mall be under consideration.
The Old Hickory Mall is owned by CBL & Associates Properties and has 89,000-square-feet of vacant space once occupied by Sears at 2021 North Highland Avenue.
Sears closed its store in the mall in March 2019.
Sears filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October, 2018, and two months later, announced its Jackson store at 2021 North Highland Avenue, was one of 80 stores nationwide the parent company would close.
Old Hickory Mall management could not be reached for comment.
