Chick-fil-A moves from 7th to 2nd highest grossing restaurant chain in US; trails only McDonalds

Chick-fil-A is now the second-highest-grossing restaurant chain in the US — despite not being open on Sundays.

Thanks to sales growth in 2019 of 13 percent to $11.3 billion, the chicken slinger leapfrogged over Taco Bell and Burger King to second place behind McDonald’s, according to Restaurant Business Magazine’s annual list of top 500 restaurants.

The Atlanta-based chain’s dominance is even more impressive considering it has only 2,470 locations in the United States. McDonald’s, by comparison, raked in $40.4 billion in gross sales with its 13,846 American locations.

Taco Bell, meanwhile, brought in $11.29 billion with 6,766 restaurants while Burger King’s 7,346 locations raked in $10.2 billion.

Last year, Chick-fil-A was 7th on the list, behind Burger King and Taco Bell, as well as Wendy’s and Subway.

Chick-fil-A has three restaurants in Jackson – 3 Stonebridge Blvd., 2021 North Highland Avenue in the Old Hickory Mall and 620 Skyline Drive in Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Stanford University purchases food safety equipment from West TN company

ADAMSVILLE, Tennessee — Earlier this year, Stanford University’s Residential and Dining Services installed multiple units of the Quality Food Preparation Series from Quail Systems, LLC, a leader in ozone generators that protect the food chain from farm to fork.

“We’re excited to be able to share the Quail team’s decades of knowledge, research and experience to allow Stanford to effectively utilize ozone for health and sanitizing,” Robert Smith, Quail Systems President and CEO, said. “We applaud the proactive measures they have taken to protect their campus. Ozone removes pesticides and kills E. coli, listeria, salmonella, norovirus and hepatitis A, and since it has been proven to kill Coronovirus-SARS, we also anticipate that it may kill COVID-19.”

According to a press release from The Bramblett Group in Henderson, Quail’s Quality Food Preparation Series offers both ozonated water and air. The system infuses ozone in the water supply for washing and rinsing meats, produce, kitchen tools and surfaces. Users also can inject ozonated air directly into the packaging.

Approved by the FDA and USDA, ozone is recognized as the most effective antimicrobial disinfectant on the market. Quail’s safe, advanced technology produces ozone onsite. Quail System products allow food providers to meet the Food Safety Modernization Act’s requirements to transport food in a safe, clean environment and prevent cross-contamination.

In addition to the Quality Food Preparation Series, Quail Systems focuses on protecting the food chain through the Refrigerated Transportation Series, the Mobile Sanitizing Series and the Universal System. Smith established Quail Systems, a Tennessee company, with a mission of providing the highest quality ozone systems, monitoring and service.
