JACKSON Tenn, (September 28, 2105) – Superintendent of Schools, Dr Verna Ruffin addresses the Jackson Madison County School Board and the community regarding Monday’s protests.  Concerned community members gathered at the JMCS Central Office Monday morning to protest the proposed plan to close or re-purpose Jackson Central Merry High School and Malesus Elementary School.
Statement from Dr. Verna Ruffin regarding today’s community protests at the Central Office:
“Vision 2020 is a very emotional process especially anytime change is proposed. I think they appreciate our
attention to their concerns and our open invitation to accept their input.”
Ruffin goes on to say, “I appreciate the passion our community
has for our schools and respect their peaceful protest.”
Ruffin says Central Office personnel have asked for any concerns to be put in writing and that all feedback is being considered as we work through additional alternatives that will be presented at the next board meeting on Oct. 13.
