I am extremely disappointed by today’s court ruling to stop the December 10 election to recall School Board Member, Doris Black.
This recall effort was launched because Doris Black stood in opposition to the vision of former JMCSS Superintendent, Dr. Eric Jones, to improve our entire school system.
Ms. Black acted as a roadblock to building a new Pope K-8 school, pushed to relocate elementary school students at Pope to the North Side High School campus, and then refused to communicate with her constituents regarding her disruptive actions.
Over 1,200 registered voters in Ms. Black’s school board district signed a petition to put her recall on the ballot.
Today in court, out of town lawyers with no connection to our community made their arguments against our grassroots effort.
Ms. Black’s voice was heard, the Tennessee Attorney General was heard, but the parents in Ms.
Black’s district were forgotten again.
This recall effort has been all about giving parents a voice. That is why I have filed paperwork to start the JMC Strong PAC to ensure parent’s voices are not silenced by Ms. Black, the court, or Nashville lawyers.
Parents are stronger when they stand together with one voice. As parents of JMCSS students, we will act as one to hold school board members who push their own agendas accountable.
We will support candidates for school board who put families first and want the best for all schools,
regardless of their zip code.
We look forward to holding Ms. Black accountable at the ballot box in August of 2022.
