You are invited to The STAR Center, 1119 Old Humboldt Road, Thursday, October 29, for a sensory-friendly Trunk-or-Treat event.
The event, which will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., is free.
According to a press release from Cassidy Sheppard – STAR Center Marketing and Events Manager – The STAR Center’s Sensory-Friendly Trunk or Treat facilitates a lower sensory demand on guests
by providing an environment with no harsh lights nor sounds.
The children and their families can also use the event to practice the skills associated with trick-or-treating before Halloween Day.
“Our event understands that individuals with disabilities of all ages may struggle or be excluded
from typical trick-or-treating due to: social skills, physical accessibility, communication,
allergies, and more,” said Katlin Ross, STAR board-certified Music Therapist.
The trunks will be social-distanced and set up to provide a clear entrance and exit. We request
our attendees over the age of 3 wear a mask unless they are medically exempt.
