Lots of whiskers and fuzzy ears for the production of “The Aristocats Kids”, based on Disney’s
“Aristocats”, but a scaled-down version for kids to learn in a short length of time.
Some fifty campers took part in The Ned’s Children and Teen Theatre Camp during their break from school March 11-15 and ended the week with a performance on Friday night at the Ned with nearly a full house.
On an unintended journey far from home, the Aristocats meet the Alley Cats and an unlikely friendship is formed when danger gets in the mix. Director Ebony says that’s what the show is all about, ” We are all the same under the fur. The cats were from all walks of life and helped each other along. The kids were all ages and experience levels and it was such a joy to see those with theater experience help the ones who had not been in a production before.” Taylor says over half of the kids who attended the camp were first-timers but all knew they were there with one common goal; to put on a good show.
The Ned has more camps coming up this Spring and Summer. The next is a Visual Arts Camp April 29- May 3rd which will be held after school hours.
