The Jackson City Council approved the purchase of new equipment for the Jackson Fire Department during a special called meeting at Jackson City Hall, Tuesday.
The City Council unanimously approved a financing resolution of a proposed lease-purchase agreement, during their Oct. 6 monthly meeting.
At a cost of $5 million, the approval allows the JFD to receive seven pieces of equipment – four at the end of the year, and the other three by the end of July 2021.
The expenditure for the equipment – or apparatus – will be paid out over a period of 10 years.
The seven pieces of apparatus includes fire trucks and aerial vehicles.
The JFD spent $370,000 in maintenance of the vehicles during the previous year.
