Teresa Sanders was recently named the Southwest Tennessee Development District (SWTDD) Employee of the Year.

This award is determined by peer vote and is given to an SWTDD employee who embraces the mission of the development district.  Sanders has been a valuable part of the staff for more than eight years and has willingly accepted additional responsibility for various special projects throughout the years, according to a news release.

Recently, she accepted a huge role to help smooth some rough waters for SWTDD when making some necessary internal changes, the release said. She has the ability to connect with co-workers and is a professional in the way that she handles her responsibilities.

“Southwest Tennessee Development District is an organization with a talented and compassionate staff, and we also rely heavily on city and county governments, volunteers and partners to carry out the organization’s mission,” said SWTDD Executive Director Joe Barker.

Sanders was recognized at the Southwest Tennessee Development District’s annual Board of Directors Meeting and Awards Banquet.

SWTDD provides services for governments, the elderly and the disabled in the counties of Chester, Decatur, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Madison and McNairy.
