HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — A shots fired call results in gunfire between police and an alleged gunman.
According to Gibson County authorities around 4 a.m. Sunday, Humboldt police officers responded to a shots fired call in the area of North 17th Avenue and Mitchell Street
An officer observed a man, later identified as Braxton Hill, exit the rear door of a residence and according to the officer the man fired a shot at him. The officer returned fire. Officers say the suspect retreated back inside the residence and refused to surrender.
Police say that after about an hour the standoff ended, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
No one was injured in the incident according to police. Officers say they recovered a weapon.
Braxton Hill is charged with attempted first-degree murder and possession of a firearm during commission of a dangerous felony.
Hill was transported to the Gibson County Correctional Complex, his bond is set at $100,000.20
