Services for Dr. Melvin Wright are as follows –
1) Open Visitation – Bledsoe Funeral Home, 256 Middleton Street, Noon – 3 p.m., Sunday, July 21.
2) Family Time – St. Paul’s CME Church, 282 Middleton Street, 4 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., Sunday, July 21 – visitors encouraged to sign the register, and organizations he was involved with will be in attendance to pay tribute.
3) Funeral Service – at Lane College, CMAC Building, 11 a.m., Monday, July 22.
Dr. Melvin Wright, 87, a Jackson dentist for 50 years passed away Wednesday, July 10.
He was also a community leader, city council member, and educator.
Dr. Wright also served with other organizations that included Goals for Jackson, the Jackson Symphony Association, Tennessee State Board of Education, United Way and the Board of Trustees of the Western Mental Health Institute.
In April, 2017, the City of Jackson and Madison County proclaimed the day ‘Dr. Melvin Wright Day,’ when the Jackson City Council held its monthly meeting at Jackson City Hall.
