Sam Hamady, dealer principal, Serra of Jackson, saw a need for those on the frontline of the pandemic and was able to acquire 10,000 protective masks for First Responders.

NEWS/TALK 101.5 FM & WNWS.COM discussed the project with Sam.

Question: What prompted you and Serra of Jackson to order 10,000 protective masks for first responders in Jackson?

Answer: As you know, Serra of Jackson has always been involved in the community (and) we wanted to do something to help our local Hospital and our first responders.

Question: The majority of the masks are being donated to West Tennessee Healthcare. How will the remainder of the masks be distributed?

Answer: We are donating 5,000 to West Tennessee Healthcare, 1,000 to the Jackson Police Department and 1,000 to the Jackson Fire Department.

For the balance we are trying to decide what would be the best way to help out local people that are in need of the masks.

Question: Serra has dealerships throughout the country. Are you finding the company is equally involved in other cities?

Answer: Our other Serra stores are also very involve in helping their community.
