Jackson councilman Scott Conger has purchased a home outside of the district he represents, and will resign his seat when the next City Council meeting is held, November 7.
On his Twitter account, Conger said, “After much prayer and the inability to find a house to fit our growing family needs, the November council meeting will be my last as the District 5 representative. This hasn’t been easy, but it is what’s best for my family.”
Conger also added, “I would like to thank everyone in District 5 for giving me the opportunity to represent you on the council. It has been an honor and a privilege. I look forward to contributing to the growth of our city in whatever capacity I am needed.”
Conger said he has not ruled out the possibility of a return to politics.
“The next election is two years away,” Conger said. “So it gives us time to see how we can best serve the community.”
