JACKSON, Tenn (June 11, 2015) – During Thursday night’s Jackson-Madison County School Board meeting the board approved a recommendation to fund four teacher assistants at the Bemis Montessori School.
Dr Verna Ruffin, superintendent, said she has already started meeting with principals of other schools to discuss their needs.
Board chairman Jim Campbell said funding for the positions will come from either fund balance or BEP funding. the board will not ask the county commission for additional funding.
In the 2014 / 15 school year there were 18 teacher assistants at Bemis but due to budget cuts fourteen of those positions were eliminated. Thursday night’s action brings the total up to eight.
