Saddened, Shocked, Angry, Words Used To Describe News Of Shooting

JACKSON Tenn (March 23, 2015) —  The man police say shot and killed a Jackson woman also turned the gun on himself and took his own life.  53-year-old Virginia Dorris was shot and killed by 52-year-old David Laster.

Virginia Dorris was employed at the Bank of Jackson, West University Parkway, Jackson. Police say that on Monday morning around 9:30 a.m. Laster entered the bank and fatally shot Dorris before turning the weapon on himself and taking his own life.

At 9:38 a.m. Jackson Police were dispatched to The Bank of Jackson at 132 West University Parkway, where Virginia Dorris, was found deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers also found David Laster with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot.  Laster was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries sustained . At 10:35 a.m., the local hospital personnel pronounced David Laster deceased.

“We are deeply saddened by a domestic violence circumstance that has caused us to suffer the loss of our friend and colleague. said Harbert Alexander, Jr., President of the Bank of Jackson,  “The employees of The Bank of Jackson appreciate the support of the Jackson Police Department and the community within the City of Jackson.”

David Laster was arrested for domestic violence on September 29, 2014, and Virginia Dorris was the victim of the assault. A no-contact order was issued between the parties.
