Dalton McIntyre, a senior centerfielder at the University of Southern Mississippi, went 4-for-5, added 2 RBI’s and scored 2 runs for the Golden Eagles, who earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Baseball Tournament with a 14-11 win over Georgia Southern in the Sun Belt Conference championship game, Sunday.
USM scored five runs in the ninth inning and captured its second consecutive Sun Belt Conference tournament title.
A graduate of Sacred Heart of Jesus High School in Jackson, McIntyre and USM open play against Indiana University in the Knoxville Regional, Friday.
